Marketing Week Top 100 Most Effective Marketers: 2023 judges revealed

Former Marketer of the Year David Wheldon, Marketing Week columnist Helen Edwards and Digitas UK CEO Jen Berry join this year’s panel.

With judging about to get under way for Marketing Week’s annual list of the UK’s Top 100 Most Effective Marketers, sponsored in 2023 by Digitas, yet again we have brought on board some of the marketing industry’s most illustrious names to determine who makes the cut.

Marketing Week columnist Helen Edwards will be joined by former Marketer of the Year winners David Wheldon and Tanya Joseph, Digitas UK CEO Jen Berry, and heads of key marketing industry bodies such as ISBA director general Phil Smith and Advertising Association CEO Stephen Woodford.

They’ll be tasked with scoring the marketers named on our longlist and whittling them down to the final 100, which will be revealed in October. Longlist contenders have been selected by Marketing Week’s editorial panel based on business success, innovative thinking and leadership, and impact and influence across the marketing industry.

Marketing Week Editor in Chief Russell Parsons says: “Our judges are vital to ensuring the Top 100 is as credible as it needs to be. They are experienced, smart and opinionated. In other words, they know what good looks like. I look forward to working with them.”

To make the list, those considered must generally be the most senior marketer at their brand, business or company unit, work for a UK-based brand or have responsibility for marketing in the UK market.

The final 100 will be split into 10 categories, each consisting of 10 marketers from a sector, or related groups of sectors. The marketer ranked top by the judges in each of these categories will then also progress onto the shortlist for Marketing Week’s Marketer of the Year 2023. From this shortlist, the judges will select an overall number one, who will be named at the Marketing Week Awards later in the year.
