Mars has called a review of its combined &£12.3m UK outdoor buying media business, handled by outdoor specialist Concord.
The US-based confectionery-to-catfood giant is understood to have invited outdoor specialists Posterscope, Portland and the incumbent to pitch for the business.
The review is across Mars Confectionery and Pedigree Masterfoods. Mars is the third-largest spender in outdoor, according to MMS.
The review follows Mars’ decision to hand its centralised &£85m media buying account to Zenith Media in September last year (MW September 30 1999).
The change also follows some changes in the media department. Last month, Pedigree Masterfoods international media manager Laurence Haslehurst retired. Haslehurst oversaw the media pitch last year. He was replaced by Angus McIntosh, who is understood to be overseeing the review.
No one at Mars was available to comment on the review. Concord managing director Nigel Mansell refused to comment.
Mars has recently reviewed some of its creative agency arrangements. At the end of last year, Abbott Mead Vickers.BBDO picked up the Whiskas cat food business from M&C Saatchi. In March this year, Mars Confectionery moved its &£30m global Twix business from D’Arcy to Grey.
